5 years of accomplishments & growth of First Tee program

Mansfield hosted members of the National First Tee program on today, discussing the progress and accomplishments of the local and national First Tee programs. In 2008, the program was ushered into the local community of Mansfield and is an immediate affiliate of the Northwest Louisiana chapter. In five years of existence, the City of Mansfield, parish, and local land owners; coupled with numerous volunteers and cooperation of the school district, have transformed the image of the sport of golf by creating a presence in our area. Those attending Tuesday’s meeting included Dianne Overstreet, associate director of the Central Plains Region Affairs; Elton Taylor, executive director of the First Tee of Northwest Louisiana; Mansfield Mayor Curtis McCoy; Steward Collins, visionary of the local chapter; Mansfield affiliate board members and volunteers; Lloyd Brown, NWLA First Tee board president and Terry Moore, board member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. First Tee is tasked with positive youth development by instilling nine core values into the daily interactions of youth through the platform of golf.
