The City Clerk and staff provide professional
assistance to the Mayor and the City Council by
providing information and making recommendations.
All department heads at City Hall report directly to
the City Clerk.

The City Clerk performs the statutory duties of a city
so that the administrative responsibilities are carried
out in a prompt, efficient, and lawful manner.     

City Clerk operations include:

  • Maintain minutes book of council meetings
  • Maintain an ordinance book
  • Act as custodian of the city’s seal and records
  • Seals and attests to all official City documents  
  • Acts as a liaison between the Mayor and Board of Aldermen
  • Post and publish all notices, public bids, ordinances and resolutions as required by law
  • Issue building permits
  •  Prepare and submit various government reports, city contracts
  • Act as notary public
